It can be said that the foundations of airline transportation, which has become increasingly important in the globalizing world and free market economy conditions, were laid on December 17, 1903, with the first controllable flight test carried out by the Wright brothers. Although this flight trial of the Wright brothers with their 16-horsepower aircraft took only 12 seconds, it is of great importance as it provides people with a vision that they can fly. Since this attempt, which can be regarded as a milestone in terms of aviation history, experiments on airline transportation have gained speed and a new progress has been made with each passing day.

Although this development process, which continued until the Second World War, was interrupted under the conditions of 1945, it gained momentum again after the war. Investment in the development of airline transport, which came to the fore with its speed in meeting logistics needs especially during the war years, has increased in the world order that started to normalize after the war. Airline passenger transportation, which started with mass tourism in the early 1950s, enabled the development of the opportunity of especially overseas or long distance travel. This situation enabled the liberalization of air transportation throughout the world, and as a result of the globalization and commercialization that emerged with the liberalization, the demand for air transportation increased rapidly.

Today, the most important expectation of companies that want to receive service in the field of international logistics is that logistics companies can provide value-added services together with their understanding of speed, security and quality service. As a service type, airline transportation, which can exceed the expectations of the customer, has some disadvantages due to the high transportation costs, the possibility of being affected by weather conditions, or the need for planning in the transportation of high volume and tonnage loads, but it is an indispensable importance considering its advantageous aspects.
